Oblique is a storage system for the living room and bedroom areas. It is a versatile, light and sophisticated collection, whose soul is poised between contemporary rigour and nostalgia for the Italian 20th century forms. In this project it is rhythm that is the protagonist: rhythm understood as an alternation between dry lines – like those of the thin solid wood profiles that, evoking the frames of a painting, outline the shape of doors and drawers and embellish the material of the fronts – and fluid lines, like those of the base, characterized by soft and refined elliptical sections, or again, like the corners of the fronts that, curving at their ends, slide softly along the sides of the containers, eliminating the hardness of the edges.

But above all, the rhythm marked by the inclined planes of the fronts of doors and drawers [hence the name Oblique], which produces a succession of backward and advanced volumes, which through slight slopes gradually return flush with the edge. For this reason, light plays a fundamental role: it defines shapes, striking these planes in an ever-changing way, generating a motion of delicate chiaroscuros that emphasise their depth and dynamism. But the oblique tops are above all a sophisticated technical and aesthetic solution that allows on the one hand to drown the handles, making them an integral part of the frames, in fact dematerialising them, and on the other to bring the level of the front back to the edge of the cabinet, thus avoiding any other necessary backward movement.

A specific colour range has been developed for these containers, in both glossy and matt variants, choosing a palette with a homogeneous and never absolute saturation, and giving much emphasis to the reflectivity of the surfaces. The colours integrate and play with the other materials most familiar to Ceccotti’s history: the solid walnut stained in the structure, the various essences of the fronts, the solid brass of the handles and feet, the silk that covers the internal compartments, the glass used for the shelves, and the marble used for the top. All these elements, worked with the passion and dedication that have always distinguished Ceccotti products, reflect a cultured, refined but never ostentatious taste.
